Hummingbird Hall

There are a lot of positive reviews on here, so I'm just going to say DEFINITELY CHOOSE HUMMINGBIRD HALL and that we agree with the good that everyone has said. It's difficult to get across in reviews the small things that make a big difference in the end …but the whole process has opened my eyes and i'm just glad we went with Hummingbird. When we started we had a whole list of things that were very important to us (scenery, privacy, cuisine, uniqueness, Jamaicaness); but throughout the process we realised that the most important is having amazing staff who make you feel supported, that they are listening and will do everything in their power to make it as special as you deserve (and are paying for!!!!!!!!!!!). At first we did find Feathers (client website) a bit mechanical and impersonal and their emails formal, but when we started communicating with the staff we were made to feel that our wedding was the most special that the venue was holding. I know they have lots of weddings - so it's pretty cool that they can make all brides feel like they are living a fairytale. Their email response time is phenomenal and our actual wedding was perfect. The only problems we had were minor but need to be said. First is the Rehearsal. We were first told that we could have a Rehearsal on the day we wanted. Then we were told a month before that they'd got a booking and so couldn't have the Rehearsal on that day. They ended up organizing a 7am Rehearsal the day before the wedding. It was fine - but we had to have a Rehearsal breakfast instead of dinner which was not my first choice and we felt like we were being bounced around. I may also be nitpicking but towards the end of our planning I noticed that the telephone numbers on their site changed and so now you can only speak to a wedding designer directly by calling or messaging to arrange an appointment for them to call you back. Whenever we called or emailed we did receive a response within a few hours but immediate answers were not possible which was frustrating on one particular occasion. Lastly, our wedding designers were changed to Jayla and Leona a few months before our wedding. I was very very nervous about this and let my feelings be known in no uncertain times. I'm pleased to say that they did a great job but think the transition could have been made less abrupt with the new and old designers working alongside each other, rather than being told that "on Monday your new designers are X". I don't want my constructive criticism to get taken out of context though - my 5/5 is because we would without doubt recommend the venue Hummingbird Hall.

We had our wedding at HBH in May 2012. What an amazing experience!!! The day itself could NOT be better. I don't find myself an easy customer, but I was surprised by the ability of HBH's staff to think ahead of me. If you are after professionals, then HBH is your venue. The only negative was that I was upset by how Rosa was not understanding when it came to late payment. I KNOW we signed a contract but sometimes things happen, and the thought of penalty charges was a bit stressful given that we were only a few weeks late AND our wedding was months away. That's why I low scored the flexibility. Otherwise: Beautiful venue, nice grounds, delicious food, attentive and helpful stuff. Highly recommend!!!

Extremely nice property, location and service for a destination wedding. We are from the UK and held a wedding for 100 people at Hummingbird Hall in April. My wife and I found the professionalism very reassuring throughout the process and at the wedding itself. None of the problems that others have described at destination weddings applied to us thanks to Hummingbird Hall. We couldn't be happier - thanks very much!

My husband (!!) and I married at Hummingbird Hall on 4/21/12 in front of 47 guests, and it was divine. The setting is stunning - better than we could have imagined via the pictures, and the day was just perfect. We found HH about 9 months ago after a desperate search for a destination venue that wasn't an all-inclusive resort wedding factory, and were so fortunate to stumble upon HH online. From the start, the entrie staff was superb. They were always responsive via online chat and e-mail, and then when Feathers (the client portal) opened - I was a message-writing machine! They were so timely and friendly in their responses, and always open to making contract changes, issuing amendments, and being flexible with inclusions. Alisha, Rosa, Lola, Thalia and everyone else - thank you! The day-of was lovely. Though really hot & lacking a breeze - that's not the fault of HH! - the lush tropical setting was perfect and everything was so smooth. The food was delicious, the florals and centerpieces were spot-on, and the ribbon theme that we'd been going for was perfect. The ribbon chandeliers were my favorite part of the whole day; they blew me away! The steel band and the DJ were also great. All of our guests just loved it and had a great time. HH was so pleasant to work with - I wish I could get married there again!

I really loved being a bride, and most of all a Hummingbird Bride!! When we started our wedding journey I actually had an at-home wedding planner however this turned out to be a bit of a disaster so we “divorced” her early on in the process. When we “divorced” our first planner I knew I did not want to go down the route of a wedding planner again and was actually nervous about leaving everything in the hands of the venue – but Hummingbird did an extraordinary job, and I'm actually glad that we didn't waste money on an outside planner - it's definitely not needed. I had a really wonderful wedding, and even though I was a stressed out bride during parts of the planning... I really could not have entrusted me special day to a nicer bunch of people. If they were frazzled by my constant emails and changes they really didnt show it..and their service on the day of the wedding speaks volumes about what genuine and hard working people they are. We had the most amazing time and created memories that my husband and I will cherish. I'm not sure what else to say other than we noticed and appreciate all the hard work that went into making our special day fantastic and so would not hesitate to recommend the venue. The venue was beautiful, but the service left much to be desired. It would be expected that if a problem surfaced with the food or setting, that the vendor would display a positive attitude and a willingness to resolve the issue. However, this was not the case. It was very disappointing!

Kenneth & I got married @ Humminbird Hall December 8 2011. We are from Texas and were going on a cruise with our kids and parents and were looking for somewhere that would work with us being a strict time frame and that didn't cost a fortune. There were 2 places in Montego Bay that we looked @, but immediately after looking at the photos on H.H's website we fell in love with the entire package. I am extremely particular on details, and Alisha was AMAZING and acepted every single one of my ideas. Our package was a basic "elopement" package so it didn't include alot of extras (DJ, photographer, custom flowers) But Alisha was happy to let me ave my "upgraded" bouquet at no additional charge, because I didn't have a bridal party, so only 1 bouquet was needed. We didn't realize til less than a month before that we didn't have a photographer or DJ (which I did panic about). You can ring your own music on an I-Pod for them to use instead of paying for a DJ, which actually worked alot better since we weren't there long enough to fully use a DJ. The photographer part was going to be tricky, but completely unexpected, Alisha stepped in and took about 500 breathtaking photographs with our camera. The staff also went around the property and caught us a few butterflies for the butterfly release as a surprise. There was one staff member that went above and beyond that day, she went out of her way to help me and my daughters get ready for the ceremony, eleviating so much stress and made my wedding day even more perfect. I had a very specific image that I was looking for in my wedding and Hummingbird Hall created everything I envisioned and more. I have recommended them to everyone that I know that is getting married. We will definitely return to Rose Hall Estate in the future. There really couldn't be a better choice of venue in Montego Bay:)

What can I say, the overall service was amazing. Being from the UK and organising a wedding abroad left some anxiety on whether we were going to have our dream wedding. Hummingbird Hall was above expectation and much more. Alisha and her staff were informative and professional throughout, which they have left a lasting impression for us and our guest. I am writing a review based on my wonderful experience with Hummingbird Hall! Our wedding took place in November, but what with a new baby and moving house I've only just got round to writing this review. The dust has settled and I can only look back on our day with happiness. I would first like to thank Michelle Patterson, one of the most amazing ladies at HH who helped keep us sane. She was there every step of the way to help us out. Second, I would like to thank Alisha; who also helped us with all the little details - menu selection, cake, flowers, music, organization and everything in between. Lastly, I would like to thank the kind staff who assisted us on the day. They had a real generosity of spirit, were very friendly and took care of our entire group. Together everything made for a perfect wedding weekend - our guests continue to relay the positive feedback - can't thank you enough :)    XOXO

As a recent Hummingbird bride I cannot stop praising the venue!! Everything went without a hitch from start to finish...and I'm not sure how many destination brides can say that - so thank you very much. In the runup we worked with Tahliah, Alisha, Rosa and Michelle a lot ...all were a pleasure to work with, professional and very accommodating. As for the day of the wedding, from the moment I went through those iron gates I just felt overcome with serenity. EVERYTHING was taken care of, which allowed me to remain in the moment, not stress and ENJOY marrying my best friend. I don't have a negative word - it was perfect - and I'd marry (my hubby!!) again just to marry at Hummingbird :) Love, Pam and Dean

I would say the wedding planning was choppy - their additional extras cost a lot - eg extra people on the golf cart tour and non standard flowers - but our actual wedding was slick and professionally run.

We had a rustic themed wedding at hummingbird hall in August. Our colours were purple and gold. We chose the standard buffet and had the standard package without the band. We had 30 guests. We used Hummingbird’s Full alcoholic bar but with top shelf liquor we brought ourselves. We had debated about having a church wedding ceremony but decided instead on having everything at Hummingbird. In the end it worked out well. I was worried about the changeover but our guests said they enjoyed looking at the art during Cocktails. Our favourite part of our experience was Hummingbird’s hospitality and willingness to assist us and our guests. The organiziation and planning part can seem a little overwhelming, but it was worth it in the end. Everything was coordinated well. We don't have any reservations on how the event, staff, decorations, service etc were handled. We are very pleased with the service we received from the initial consultation all the way to getting our certificates through the post with one exception. Exception being: our experience with the wire process/Rosa in accounts. Their contract states that there are penalties if the money is late. On one occasion the bank took 9 days to transfer our money and even though we weren’t charged a penalty in the end Rosa’s attitude could have been more understanding/nicer (hence the 4.5/5 for flexibility). We’d still recommend the venue though.

Wow!! Our wedding was August 14th 2011 and it was a talk of the town. When my husband and I was looking for Venue, we where just not getting what we always envision upon till one day we came across Hummingbird Hall, it was just so beautiful. I could never took my eyes off the website, until we where contacted by Alisha with the help of Michelle (staff member) who was so prompt. At first we thought we could never afford a wedding ,but Alisha and her staff work around our budget and it was just stress free!! From the start to finish Alisha was just amazing! We both live in Canada and we where just so amazed with the quick responses the staffs were just so professional!! The location is very beautiful, not to mention the food, the service(we were treated very well) One thing i can say though that Alisha always have plan B, she's just great with what she does. i could never imagine a wedding day without Hummingbird Hall..upon till today we are just so happy that we choose this venue. We are defenatley coming back to celebrate our Anniversary. Thanks again for all the hard work and we so grateful for everything. Kanesha and Branson Green

By Andrea and Kojo. Over a year ago we started our search for a wedding planner. We had originally planned on hiring a planner and separate venue but thank God we found Hummingbird in the end. We had a tele-conference with Alisha round about booking and were sold. I let her know I’m a bit of a control freak and by no means an easy bride *smile* Her attitude then..and ever since..has been one of professionalism…courtesy.. patience (PATIENCE!!) and just genuine pleasure. Throughout the course of the year I probably changed my mind 100s of times on wedding details/ décor plans . Each time, I simply shot off an email to the ladies at Hummingbird and they made the change happen. Whether I was on their live chat (keeping them up way past closing time) or on the phone – I just felt the ladies were attentive and wanted what we wanted: a perfect wedding. I’ll admit - the week I arrived in Jamaica I did have a lot of anxiety. Alisha and her ladies were very supportive and a calming influence. In fact, Alisha even met with me the day after the Rehearsal at our resort: I appreciated that. The day of my wedding everything worked out PERFECTLY with Michelle as my day of planner. She did not miss a thing and everything was as agreed. I truly loved my wedding and working with Hummingbird Hall. In fact, we’d like “publicly” to highlight a few people who made our day/experience extra special. - Tahlia: thanks for doing a great job on the site - Rev Hind: thanks for making us so relaxed and our ceremony so meaningful and sincere - Michelle / Lola: thanks for the time you spent with us on the live chat. The late nights did not go unnoticed and were genuinely appreciated - Rosa: for issuing countless amendments to contract – with cheer and professionalism – thank you - DJ (not too sure of his name). Thanks for keeping the party rocking! - Alisha: thank you for EVERYTHING!!!!! You have such a nice, sweet soul and are amazingly talented. Your ceaseless energy and enthusiasm was noted – thank you!

I dreamed of a special day and it came true. I now wonder why I was such a worrier! The table settings were unlike any wedding I have ever attended. Nothing plastic or cheap just very classy. They took care of absolutely everything. We never felt rushed and the staff were enjoying us as much as we were enjoying them. Everything was awesome!

It was extremely important that our wedding was beautiful - obviously - but even more it was important that our wedding represented a good investment and value for money. In February we held a wedding for 120 close family and friends at HH. we wanted a venue that could accommodate our guests comfortably, but was also intimate and personal enough for everyone to feel included. As we had chosen not to have a wedding in a resort - security was another v important factor. On all counts HH proved the perfect choice. The staff at HH were also very knowledgeable and professional. Rev Edwards set the tone v well, and our guests were served quickly when it came to the meal service. The food was also very tasty. THe DJ took note of our pre selected songs and the venue was decked out beautifully. HH deserve their good reputation. Without question:10/10.

Wow! Where to start! Our wedding at Hummingbird Hall was superb. Truly truly superb. The air there is full of love and we will never forget the amazing memories we made there. It's difficult to narrow the specific reasons why we (and our guests) are still on a high from our wedding, but things that particularly stand out: 1.Staff before hand. Michelle – totally amazing miracle worker. We were getting buried in the bureaucracy of Jamaica trying to acquire documents which we needed for the wedding licence – this led to many, many sleepless nights. We happened to mention this to Michelle one night on the chat – and *amazingly* she sorted everything out. Our WEEKS of worry were solved in one conversation – we cannot thank her enough 2.Staff @ the wedding. They were so nice! Even our guests commented- we were always greeted with a smile, “yah mon”, “no problem” and “respect”. 3.The food – delicious. We had the curried chicken, sweet and sour fish and jerk pork. 4.Décor – Alisha – hands down – bustles with talent. She condensed all of our emails into the most 'look'. Our centerpieces – or – as she says “tablescapes” were stunning. The people there combined with the scenery make this one of the most unique and happiest place we've visited and the most perfect venue for our wedding. Do we recommend this place? Certainly!

Our agent suggested we take a look at Hummingbird Hall so we took a visit to the property in June. We had initially had our heart set on a Negril beach wedding however from the moment we walked in we knew Hummingbird Hall was our place. The view is out-of-this world and the house just has an immediate warmth that grabbed us. It may be the yellow, it may be the gardens, but it has a very happy and loving energy. Our gut feeling was right! Our wedding at Hummingbird was *insert superlative here* . I know everyone probably thinks that their wedding rocks (!) but ours really did ;-) The food -- the staff -- the decorations -- the butterflies -- the location -- the bunch of herbs they gave to my mum from the garden EVERYTHING about our wedding felt so special. We have nothing but thanks and praise for Hummingbird Hall!
